About

What this site is and how it is run.

What it is

Need for VRAM is a hand-picked directory for the local AI community. It covers people to follow, open-weight models, companies and upcoming events.

How entries are picked

An entry gets in when it helps someone run models on their own hardware: useful code, honest benchmarks, open weights, good explanations. Follower counts do not matter.

Privacy

There are no cookies, no trackers and no embedded content from other sites. Visits are counted from the server’s own logs, where the end of every IP address is removed before anything is written to disk. Nothing is sent to Google or any other third party. Links to X, YouTube or Reddit are plain links, so those sites only learn about you if you click. The pages also ask your browser not to send a referrer when you leave.

Elsewhere

Need for VRAM also posts on X and publishes rig tours and tests on YouTube. Videos on this site only load from YouTube after you click play.

Your rig in the Garage

Anyone can get a page in the Garage to show their build and keep it up to date. See how to add your rig.
